SHE FORGOT THER MANNERS AND GOT THE VOTE--THE PIONEERING LIFE OF ABIGAIL SCOTT DUNIWAY
Let's face it, even some of us who were born and raised in Portland weren't taught anything about the woman that Portland's Duniway Park and Duniway Elementary School were named after. I grew up a mile from Duniway Elementary and knew very little about the Oregon Trail pioneer and suffragist until our son Drew attended Duniway in the early 2000s. My mission is to ensure that this is not the case for the next generation of Oregonians!

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY PRESENTATION
Especially relevant during Women's History Month and when studying voting rights or the colonial settling of the west: Educate and entertain your students at the same time with this folksy rendition of She Forgot Her Manners and Got the Vote presented by me and two of my sisters. Punctuated with live pioneer music, a feisty narration and slide show proceed time set aside for author questions. If requested, signed copies of She Forgot Her Manners will be pre-delivered or distributed.
CLASSROOM PRESENTATION
Especially relevant for fourth and fifth graders studying the
Oregon Trail and Woman Suffrage: This interactive presentation includes pre-delivered signed copies of She Forgot Her Manners and Got the Vote. After your students have had a chance to peruse their copies, I'll visit your classroom with a jeopardy-style game of questions about Abigail, the Oregon Trail, and Woman Suffrage.
PRESENTATION OF YOUR CHOICE
I'm happy to work with school principals, administrators, and teachers to create a unique author visit for your students. This might include a book reading, questions for the author, a book signing, and/or a reenactment of Abigail's life, with students performing from my original script (or their own script).
