Welcome!

Grandma always said, "Life is a school." I get a kick out of writing stories for youth (of all ages) about what I've learned along life's path—mostly the hard way. I recently finished a memoir, a sometimes tragic, more often magic, story of growing up with a bipolar mom and a volatile dad (soon available on Amazon):
THE BIPOLAR EXPRESS—One Baby Boomer's Journey from a Fearful Childhood to an Anxious Adulthood
My children's books include:
SHE FORGOT HER MANNERS AND GOT THE VOTE
—The Pioneering Life of Abigail Scott Duniway (now on Amazon), a rollicking biography chock full of colorful illustrations & anecdotes about Abigail, a spunky girl who decides minding her manners is less important than getting women the due they deserve
NERD-VANA--The Voyager Race to Outer Space (coming out early 2024)
What happens when you pair a once-in-a-176-year planet alignment with some brainiacs and a tech revolution?
Find out as you sail along with (and get to know) the nerds who defy the odds as they design, build, and fly two robotic spacecraft past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (and their moons!), then on into interstellar space.
Filled with colorful full-page illustrations, and real-life photos courtesy of NASA, this story will blow your mind!
CHESS QUEENS—How the Polgar Sisters Rocked the World (also coming out early 2024)
What happens when a couple of parents decide to home school their three daughters and train them to be chess prodigies?
Well, besides the government wanting to commit the parents, you get the world famous Polgar sisters, of course!
Beautiful double spread watercolor illustrations compliment this charming picture book story about how some dreams really do come true!
How do I pick my protagonists? They have traits in common that fascinate me—pioneers with drive and ambition, they constantly reinvented themselves. Now that I think about it, my favorite books as a kid were Little House on the Prairie and Miss Pickerell Goes to Mars.
I live in the land of liquid sunshine—aka Portland Oregon—with my high school sweetheart Mike, our son Drew, who recently graduated college (sigh, why do they have to grow up so fast?) and the ghosts of our incredible twin cats.
